Grimm’s Hotel Potsdamer Platz is Berlinale Partner Hotel
The 5th season for people coming from Cologne is the carnival, for film enthusiasts the 5th season is February in Berlin with its Berlinale. For the 73rd time, from February 16-26, 2023, the Berlin Film Festival will take place.
We are happy that Grimm’s Hotels is once again a partner hotel of the Berlinale and we are already in film fever together with our guests: the final Berlinale program is not fixed until the beginning of February, but there is already some information!
This year’s jury president is U.S. actress, director and screenwriter Kristen Stewart, who will present the awards together with the international jury.
One prize has already been decided: this year’s Honorary Golden Bear and Homage goes to director, producer and screenwriter Steven Spielberg. In the Berlinale tribute, the three-time Oscar winner will be honored for films such as Schindler’s List, Munich, Jaws, Indiana Jones and Bridge of Spies, among others. His oeuvre consists of more than 100 films and series, he earned 19 Oscar nominations and is an Golden Globe and Emmy winner. His latest film “The Fabelmans” will be screened at the Berlinale.
In addition to the Berlinale Palast and the well-known venues, 2 new cinemas will be added this year where you can see the films..: Competition repeats will be shown at the Verti Music Hall in Friedrichshain as well as special gala premieres. The films of the Generation section can be seen at Kino Urania instead of the “Haus der Kulturen der Welt”, which will not be there this year due to construction work. Like last year, the Cineplex Titania in Steglitz is also scheduled as a venue again.
For more than 10 years, the Berlinale has been moving more and more in the direction of sustainability. The Academy Awards and Golden Globes have led the way and since a few years the Berlinale is also vegan or vegetarian. During the festival we will offer a Berlinale Special in our hotel, look forward to many vegetarian dishes.
