Start best in the direction of Leipziger Platz. There is the Spy Museum or on the opposite side the “Mall of Berlin“. If you want to do some shopping, this is a good place to start, with it’s hundreds of brands and stores. It is certainly the right place to have a break at one of the many food counters. Diagonally opposite Leipziger Platz, in the Sony Center, you will find, among other attractions, Legoland, a miniature museum for the whole family. For film enthusiasts there is the German Cinematheque with many interactive action areas and in front of the Sony Center you will find the “Boulevard of Stars”, Berlin’s “Walk of Fame”. The Stars are embedded in the ground and honoring actors and filmmakers from German-speaking countries. The first star was awarded in honor of Marlene Dietrich.

Berlin offers many beautiful bike routes with places where it is good to rest for a while

…further it goes with the bicycle past the Tiergarten up to the Brandenburg Gate. From there you can drift… Within sight is the Victory Column with its viewing platform and the nearby Bellevue Palace, another route leads directly to the Reichstag with its glass dome popular amoung tourists and the government district. …from there, by the way, you can also take a one-hour city tour by boat, where you can discover Berlin’s sights from the water – a very nice alternative to cycling, especially in the hot summer months.

Humboldtforum, Nikolaiviertel or Friedrichstraße with interesting stores and cafes, like Oranienburger Straße with many winding side streets leading to Hackescher Markt, are other beautiful routes that you should not miss on a visit to Berlin.

For those who like it more historical: How about a tour along the Berlin Wall? Both Grimm’s Hotel am Potsdamer Platz and Grimm’s Hotel Mitte are located directly on the Wall Trail and with 50km of inner-city, the former border strip is a route worth seeing. In total, the Wall Trail covers 160km.

Grimm’s Hotel Mitte

If you stay at Grimm’s Hotel Mitte, it’s not far to Brandenburg Gate & Co. – but a slightly different route would be a short drive to the East Side Gallery with the colorful districts of Friedrichshain and Kreuzberg, which are characterized by street art and countless small restaurants and pubs. The Oberbaumbrücke at the end of the East Side Gallery has been a beautiful backdrop in numerous movies and will definitely look good on your next Berlin photo or Instagram post!

If you drive Grimm’s Hotel Mitte along the Spree, in the direction of Museum Island, you can pass between the Berlin Cathedral and the Berlin Palace, always straight on Karl-Liebknecht-Straße directly on this route to Prenzlauer Berg. A district that offers in many small stores a wide selection of artisan good and sustainably produced products. Both the stores and the restaurants offer variety and environmental awareness.

Grimm’s Hotel Berlin-Potsdam

Those who start from Grimm’s Hotel Berlin-Potsdam can take ride along the Berlin Wall Trail, too. A beautiful route leads along the banks of the Havel River in Kladow and along the Groß Glienicker Lake in Groß Glienicke, which is divided between Berlin and Potsdam. In the south of Berlin, in Steglitz, is also the Botanical Garden, which is always worth a visit both in summer and winter. In summer, the water lily bloom of the Victoria variety, which lasts only a short time, is celebrated there. The leaves of the water lily can have a size of up to 2m and were certainly an inspiration for Hans Christian Andersen to write the fairy tale Thumbelina. …to experience Potsdam, you certainly need more than a bicycle trip, alone the many castles and the park area with the Chinese Tea House, the windmill and the many sculptures should not be missed during a visit to Berlin.

…You have become curious? Then rent a bike right away…and off you go – no matter in which direction you leave the respective Grimm’s Hotel, there is a lot to discover!
