This year over 150 musicians from 25 countries will perform at the Haus der Berliner Festspiele and the various festival stages at the A-Trane, Quasimodo and the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church, including numerous representatives of the US and European avant-gardes, as well as the contemporary creative music of South Africa, Brazil and the Black Sea region. Many acts celebrate their German, European or World premiere at Jazzfest Berlin – and about half are led or co-led by women.
